Advanced Media Law
A day-time course for those with basic knowledge of media law. Students will either be existing journalists, or will have obtained some understanding of media law from previous studies.
| Day 1: | Introduction: you and the law, privacy and breach of confidence, Human Rights Act. Freedom of Information, terrorism and national security, codes of conduct. Crime and the courts, sex offences, ASBOs and children in court. | |
| Day 2: | Libel cases, libel defences. Reporting the courts. | |
| Day 3: | Copyright, challenging court orders. Libel and contempt. Conclusion. |
